2016 Graduates Join Posse Alumni Network

Fall 2016 | D.C.

Posse D.C. welcomed its 2016 college graduates into the Posse Alumni Network in June at the offices of Hogan Lovells LLP in Washington, D.C. Fellow alumni, current Scholars, family members and other supporters celebrated the new alumni.

Posse D.C. Director Tamara Wilds Lawson honored the graduates and highlighted their achievements with the help of Posse National Alumni Advisory Council representatives Briana Strachan, a Lafayette College alumna, and Odinakachi Anyanwu, a Bucknell University alumnus.

“You all are a remarkable group of young people,” Tamara said. “In our graduating class of Scholars, we have 10 going on to work in schools, a Fulbright fellow, 10 pursuing graduate school at George Washington University Law School, Harvard Medical School and Penn State among others, and several going on to start their careers at Fortune 500 companies including Google, Deloitte, Warner Brothers and PwC.”

Featured speaker Alicia Montague-Keels, who graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison, encouraged new alumni to remain engaged with the Posse network and their communities.

“Be a light wherever you are,” Alicia said. “That means sharing your talents and gifts with others. Invest in a passion, volunteer with Posse, help out those still on your undergraduate campuses or simply share whatever it is that you do best with others.”

Generously hosted by Hogan Lovells LLP, the event also provided Posse alumni with opportunities to network with established professionals. The new college graduates join a network of more than 3,600 Posse alumni around the world who are dynamic leaders in the workforce and their communities.
