Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Hires Two Posse Interns

Fall 2016 | Boston

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, a growing leader in Boston’s pharmaceutical industry, is working with Posse to create workforce opportunities for Scholars interested in biotechnology. As a new Career Program partner, Alnylam hired two Scholars as summer interns.

Hamilton College Scholar Chidera Onyeoziri worked directly with the organization’s top leadership, including Chief Business Officer DA Gros and General Counsel Laurie Keating, to evaluate business needs around investor relations and corporate communications. Centre College Scholar Dzeneta Velic worked in a laboratory to support operational systems and perform analytic testing. The biopharmaceutical company is developing a new class of innovative medicines based on a breakthrough discovery in biology known as RNA interference.

“Of the many opportunities this internship has afforded, I am most appreciative of the time I’ve spent with Alnylam’s senior leadership,” says Chidera. “I’ve sat in on strategic leadership meetings to get a sense of how and who makes decisions in a billion-dollar market-cap company.”

Alnylam’s partnership is already expanding to include employee volunteers and in-kind donations to Posse Boston. At a recent career event designed to prepare Scholars for internships at businesses around the city, Alnylam’s Director of Research Dr. Gregory Hinkle spoke to Scholars about smart summer internship practices. Additionally, the company will host more than 100 urban public high school nominees at its offices to learn about the Posse program during the first round of Posse’s selection process.

Posse Boston is privileged to partner with this cutting-edge company to provide excellent professional opportunities to Scholars and alumni.
