Five Vets Scholars Selected from Northern Virginia Community College

Summer 2016 | Veterans

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) has nominated veteran students for the Posse Scholarship since 2014. This fall, five of those students will attend Dartmouth College, Vassar College and Wesleyan University with their Posses.

“Campus leadership was really ecstatic to hear that five of their students were selected for Posse,” says Audra Morris, the veterans affairs specialist at NOVA’s Annandale Campus. “Posse is a way to bring a complete and total radical change in leadership in this country. It’s a chance for veterans to have a voice and change the game. It’s truly visionary.”

In March NOVA’s Office of the Provost hosted a reception for the Veterans Posse Scholars and the entire college community. They celebrated the talents and achievements of Dartmouth Scholars Nataly De Freitas, Taylor Mauney and Karla Rosas; Vassar Scholar Brian Lepak; and Wesleyan Scholar Mitchell Motlagh.

The Posse Veterans Program recruits from military bases, community colleges and veterans service organizations across the country. For more information about nominating veterans for the program, visit the Posse website.
