Posse Atlanta’s Newest Class of Scholars at 2017 Awards Ceremony.

Posse Atlanta Welcomes New Scholars

Spring 2017 | Atlanta

On January 5, 500 guests gathered at the historic Fox Theatre for Posse Atlanta’s 10th Annual Awards Ceremony. The event recognized Atlanta’s newest class of Posse Scholars—60 exceptional students from public schools across the greater Atlanta region. In attendance were Posse Advisory Board and Leadership Council members, volunteers and community members, as well as the Scholars’ families and friends.

Posse Atlanta’s 2017 class was selected from a pool of nearly 1,500 nominees. Over 200 metro-area high schools and community-based organizations submitted nominations, a sign of Posse’s continually expanding impact in metro Atlanta.

The new Scholars are now participating in Posse’s eight-month Pre-Collegiate Training Program (PCT), which fosters cohesion among the Posses and prepares them for the challenges of college life. PCT is a critical component of the Posse model and helps to ensure that Scholars transition smoothly onto campus and persist and graduate at rates of 90 percent and higher.
