On October 27, 2016, Posse Atlanta supporters, alumni and staff gathered at The Intercontinental Buckhead in downtown Atlanta for the annual Power of 10, Posse Atlanta’s signature fundraising event. The evening raised $170,000 and was generously sponsored by Phil and Karin Pead, EY, Georgia-Pacific, Infor, JPMorgan Chase, Merrill Lynch, U.S. Trust Bank of America, The Coca-Cola Company, Alston & Bird, Holder Construction Company, IBM and Turner Broadcasting Systems.

Posse Atlanta thanks its sponsors for supporting the event and believing in the tremendous potential of Posse Scholars.

2016 marked Posse Atlanta’s eighth Power of 10, which continues to grow each year and is always an evening to remember. Highlights included reflections from Bard College Posse alumna Karimah Shabazz, who became the first Atlanta Posse Scholar to receive the prestigious Truman Scholarship in 2014. She was awarded $30,000 for graduate school and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Michigan State University.

Posse Atlanta was also thrilled to honor longtime partner The Coca-Cola Foundation for its commitment to education. Helen Smith Price, president of the foundation, accepted the award and inspired attendees with her remarks.

The funds raised from the Power of 10 will help Posse Atlanta continue to advance its mission to increase educational opportunities for deserving high school students across the city.
