Scholars, Alumni, Partners Convene for Winter Career Day

Winter 2016 | Atlanta

Posse Atlanta’s 2016 career programming kicked off in January with the annual Winter Career Day. More than 130 Scholars, alumni, presenters and panelists gathered at Chick-fil-A’s headquarters in Atlanta for a day of workshops and leadership forums.

“Winter Career Day presents an opportunity for our Scholars to explore new career opportunities and network with senior-level professionals,” says Posse Atlanta Director Zenith Houston. “It’s a significant opportunity for our corporate partners to also connect with dynamic young people who will soon be entering the workforce.”

Scholars and alumni participated in professional development workshops focused on maximizing mentorship, leveraging LinkedIn profiles, and exploring graduate school opportunities. Leadership forums provided Scholars with an opportunity to hear from corporate executives from key industries.

“It has really been making me rethink my future and career goals,” says Scholar Jordan Fessehaie, a sophomore at Boston University majoring in hospitality administration.

The day concluded with a networking session with representatives from more than 20 corporations and nonprofits, including representatives from Bank of America, C5 Youth Foundation, PwC, Georgia-Pacific LLC, Travelers, and Welcoming Atlanta. Scholars left the event with professional contacts, career guidance, and headshots donated by a professional photographer.

Posse Atlanta thanks event sponsors Georgia Power Company and the Chick-fil-A Foundation and the corporate and nonprofit representatives who attended.
