To date, D.C. Scholars have won $176 million scholarship dollars from D.C. partner colleges and universities.

History

A generous grant from The Sallie Mae Fund made Posse D.C. possible. Posse was excited to expand to the nation’s capital, knowing that the public school system in D.C. was sure to hold many of our country’s future trailblazers.

Posse is grateful to the teachers, counselors and community leaders of D.C., who help us identify incredible high school students. We especially thank our partner colleges and universities for their investments in the program and belief in the promise of Posse Scholars.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for nomination at Posse D.C., students must:

1.Be high school seniors in the fall of 2024 and have an expected graduation date in the spring of 2025.

2.Reside or attend school within D.C., Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Arlington County, Fairfax County, or Alexandria City

3.Demonstrate extraordinary leadership within their high school, community and/or family.

4.Excel academically and have strong GPAs. Although there is no minimum requirement, only nominees who have consistently progressed toward academic excellence will be given the opportunity to be a Posse Scholar. While the ACT or SAT are not a focus of Posse’s evaluation, students are encouraged to take them.

5.Be open to making an early decision commitment to a Posse partner institution if selected as a finalist. Early decision is a binding commitment and great option for students who are excited about attending one institution.
